Turkey Day 2023 Is Nearly Here!

Wednesday, November 22, 2023
Warren County Fairgrounds

Continuing where we left off last year!

A faith filled endeavor, we'll be preparing 250 full family meals with deep fried turkeys to give away the day before Thanksgiving. We'd love to have you and yours involved however possible. Come together, build camaraderie, make memories, and serve others - all are welcome to give and receive!

Enjoy this short video from a previous year:

Turkey Preparations

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, we begin preparing the turkeys for frying with a good rinse, seasoning, and safe keeping for the next day.  We learn new skills, meet new friends, and see His work through our hands. This is a great opportunity for junior high and high school teams and organizations to help and get their hands dirty, as well as learn how to prepare a turkey for deep frying.  This is a great way to be involved if you can't get Wednesday off to join the big show.

Building the Meals and Our Community

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we will gather at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lebanon to pray, to fry, to cook, to box, to be family, to share, and to be grateful for the many gifts we have been given as we provide a complete meal for families in need.  Many families that have received in the past return the next year to help cook and prepare meals for others.

The day starts with morning Mass at 7:30am.  We will then migrate over to the Warren County Fairgrounds for orientation and start cooking around 9:00am. We should be done cooking by 2:00pm, with meals ready for pickup between 1:00pm and 5:00pm.

Everyone who wants to be involved is welcome!!

The meals include a fried turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, corn, bread, pumpkin pies, bags of fresh oranges, cranberry sauce, and a personal card of praise.  Each meal is planned to feed a family of 6 for a full Thanksgiving day feast and the ensuing weekend.

Many of our workers have taken a day off of work to be part of this experience showing another form of witness to the gifts that are shared on this day. Also, students give up hours of their vacation day.

The number of meals is defined by the generosity of those who donate to the effort in the weeks before the event.  Our goal is to provide at least 200 meals. A meal costs about $50 each, on top of the untold contributions of turkey pots, fuel, food for the workers, and other supplies that many bring with them the day of the turkey frying.
